FINAL FANTASY V
LOW LEVEL
FIESTA CHALLENGE

What is this?

This is a community challenge organized by me, Qwarq, in which players try to complete Final Fantasy V at as low a level as they can using only the four given jobs. Once the challenge begins, I'll announce which four jobs players will use - everyone uses the same jobs.

What are the rules?

Normal fiesta rules apply: only the four given jobs may be used, and at least one of each must be present in the party whenever possible.

Any official version of Final Fantasy V or Project Demi may be used, though some versions may be more advantagious than others. Translation patches that don't affect gameplay may also be used.

Pixel Remaster adjustments to EXP, ABP and Gil are permitted, and gameshark/game genie codes to turn off EXP gain will be provided for SNES and GBA versions.

Emulator save states and rewind are permitted outside of battle only.

Glitches may be used, but Neo-Exdeath may not be skipped.

How long do I have to complete the challenge?

The challenge begins at midnight EDT on September 1st, 2026 and goes until midnight EDT on October 1st.

Is there any prize for having the lowest levels?

Yes! The player with the lowest total level will receive a Skeb/Surprise Me illustration of their choosing from me. Similarly, players in second and third places will receive monochrome sketches from me.

Ranking is determined by adding the final levels of all four characters, with lower values being better.

Shortly after the challenge ends, I'll be doing a stream where I announce the winners and show their video submissions of defeating the final boss.

How do I participate?

To participate, you'll need a way to play Final Fantasy V (I can't help with this part), a way to record and upload your gameplay, and some way for me to contact you (bluesky, discord, twitch, email).

The entire playthrough does not need to be streamed or recorded, but video evidence of the full Neo-Exdeath fight (including the first phase) is required.
NOTE: videos must show character levels either just before the fight begins by opening the menu, or in the ending sequence.

When your run is complete, a form on this site will be avilable to submit your name, method of contact and link to the relevant video(s).

Why are you doing this challenge?

I'm a big fan of Final Fantasy V, especially the Four Job Fiesta, so I'm always looking for interesting challenges. The game is exceptionally well designed, to the point that the game can be completed at level 1 by using clever strategies and extensive knowledge. A level 1 run is a solved challenge - it's been done multiple times before and requires certain jobs. What's the lowest level if you're locked to a fiesta team that doesn't have those jobs? That's a much more interesting and mostly unknown question. I started thinking about which jobs would require the most interesting strategies and the idea spiraled from there.
